in a survey publised by 'The Times Higher Education Supplement' (THES) last week, it showed that our premier university, University Malaya, lying at a lowly 169 out of. a sharp fall from 89 the previous year. and this is what the vice chancellor had to say, "I want to share my happiness with you that although there are so many universities in the world, we are number 169."
Cant believe that we, a nation aspiring to be a developed country, have such a pathetic and 'tidak apa' response to something such as important as this. its our premier univeristy man!!
malaysia boleh indeed.....
instead of outlining ways of stopping the rot, which has been there since independence, this guy actually rejoicing that UM is at 169 place. no doubt there are 30 000 other universities in the survey, and 169 might not seem that bad. but it is time for us to start comparing and competing with the best in the world. not with the worst of the lot. reasons must be given why there is a drop of 80 places. its our premier univeristy!! its the pride of the nation.
God dammit! do something bout it!!
